This quick guide will show you how to leave a review in Google Places, Google’s local business webpage.

Time it takes to leave a review:

Already have a Google account?: 2 miutes.
Sign up with Google?: 4 minutes.
(Google requires that you have an account, which is a quick and easy sign up. See below!)

Step 1: Go to Manhattan Music’s Google Places page:

(Open the Google Places page in a new browser tab (or window) so you can refer back to these instructions as you go)

Scroll down to Reviews section.

Click Sign in to rate.

**NOTE: If you already have a Google account (or Gmail acct.), skip ahead to Step 3.

If you don’t have a Google account or Gmail, sign up for a Google account for FREE.


Step 2: Sign up for your Google account

1. You’ll need a Google account to leave a review in Google Places, so if you have a Google account (or a Gmail account) sign in.

2. If you don’t have a Google account, it will take about a minute to create one. Click on Create an account now

Create your Google account:

1. Current email address - You’ll need to verify your account via an email sent to this address.
2. Create a password for your Google account, and re-enter
3. Birthday - you can make this up if you’d like, but be at least 18 please!
4. Verification - enter those annoying letters
5. Accept terms and create account


Verify Account

Sign in to check your email address you used for the Google account.
**NOTE:This says aol.com because I used an AOL address.

Step 3: Rate and Review!

Go back to the Google Places page and sign in if you are not already signed in.

**NOTE - After your account is verified, you should already be signed in.

Once you are signed in, the text on the right now says “rate and review”
Click on Rate and review


Step 4: Create a Nickname in Google Hotpot

Create a “Nickname” which you can use to rate any businesses on Google
Click on Start Rating


Finally, Leave your review!

1. Click on star rating
2. Enter text rating (it helps the local business with search engine optimization if you use the keyword in the actual review. In this example, the keyword is “miami wedding band.” So you can say somewhere, “If you’re looking for a Miami wedding band, these guys are a great choice.”
3. Click Publish.
